AI music distribution checklist: before you upload
Check the generator, your contributions and permissions, the distributor and each destination separately. Acceptance by a distributor does not establish that every destination will accept the same release.

1. Describe one final version
List all AI tools used, including tools added during later production. In our checker, distinguish generated composition, lyrics, recording and vocals from technical processing. If you change the final audio, run the check against that version’s facts.
2. Read the distributor’s actual conditions
DistroKid says it accepts music made with AI tools if the uploader has the required rights, avoids unauthorized impersonation, infringement and mass-generated spam, and follows streaming-service guidelines. It also says destinations can reject or remove releases. That is a conditional route, not blanket approval for any generated track.
3. Gather the facts before opening the upload form
The free checker will use your answers to evaluate the available rules. Prepare:
- Generator product, plan, generation date and export date.
- Permissions for the master, lyrics, samples and collaborators.
- Any voice imitation, cover material or required disclosure.
- The distributor product, destination and territory you want checked.
4. Deal with unknowns one at a time
An unknown result identifies a missing fact or an uncovered rule scope. Open its explanation and next action. Ask the named service a specific question if needed, then update the check. Selecting an unsupported service does not mean that the service bans AI music.
5. Keep the result you actually used
The complete result and a text download are free. If you need a saved, dated version with PDFs and manual rechecks for the same file, the optional Passport costs $2.99 plus applicable tax shown before payment. Buying it records the result; it does not change the eligibility answer.
