Before releasing a Suno song: what to check
Check the exact song, the plan and terms that applied, and how you downloaded it. Then check your inputs and the route you want to use. A paid subscription alone is not a complete release check.

1. Keep generation and download dates separate
Suno’s terms effective September 3, 2026 tie permitted commercial use to an approved download within the applicable tier allowance. They also retain restrictions on Basic outputs and the service’s joint Remix feature. Record both dates; do not silently apply today’s wording to an older song.

2. Resolve an old free-plan song before assuming permission
Suno’s older help article says upgrading does not automatically grant commercial rights to earlier free-plan songs. Its newer paid-plan guidance describes rights for songs downloaded while subscribed. If your history crosses these dates, keep the relevant records and ask Suno about that exact song instead of treating an upgrade as clearance.
3. Account for everything in the final master
Our intake asks about lyrics, samples, collaborators and voice or identity imitation. Include later additions, even if the first version came entirely from one generator. Mark a missing permission as unknown rather than guessing. Keep supporting material in your own records.
4. Choose the decision you need
Run distribution, destination delivery and Content ID as separate goals in the free checker. Read the source dates and unresolved conditions for each result. Suno itself distinguishes commercial-use permission from copyright protection; a successful check is not a copyright registration.
