Josh Fawaz shows how a rough vocal becomes an AI performance

Brisbane producer Josh Fawaz posted a behind-the-scenes demonstration in which he sings a rough guide, sends it through Suno and receives a more polished vocal with changed timbre, phrasing and accent.

The clip is useful because it shows both the human input and the scale of the transformation. It complicates the simple labels “AI-made” and “human-made”: the melody and direction may begin with a person while the audible identity of the singer is substantially generated.

Credits need to describe the transformation

Fawaz had already drawn attention with a cover of “Like a Prayer.” Rolling Stone Australia reports that the track's Spotify credits were later updated to disclose AI use in the vocals and drums.

A generic production credit is not enough for workflows like this. Listeners and collaborators need to know which performance was recorded, which elements were generated and who made the final selection and edit. The demonstration is a strong argument for descriptive credits rather than a single AI badge.
