Kyutai's MuScriptor converts a mixed music recording into editable notes for several instruments. The public demo can return MIDI, conventional notation and guitar tablature, making the system useful for transcription, study and rebuilding an arrangement inside other music software.

The project is open, but its licences are not interchangeable. The repository code is MIT-licensed; the published model weights use CC BY-NC 4.0, which restricts commercial use. Anyone planning to embed the model in a paid product needs to read the weight licence rather than assume that “open source” covers the entire system.

Kyutai says audio uploaded to its public server is processed for transcription and not retained. Users working with confidential or unreleased recordings can also run the model locally, avoiding the demo upload route.

MuScriptor is not a song generator. Its value is in pulling musical structure back out of audio so that notes, parts and instrumentation become editable again.
