TIDAL's AI policy takes effect — labels on, royalties off for fully AI tracks
15 Jul 2026·Brief·1 records cited
From today, TIDAL labels music it determines is wholly AI-generated and removes it from royalty attribution.
TIDAL's AI policy, published June 29, reaches its operative date today: tracks the platform determines to be wholly AI-generated are labeled as such and become ineligible for royalty attribution. Wholly AI-generated uploads are blocked from direct-to-fan monetization, and AI content tied to impersonation, deception or streaming manipulation is removed.
The scope line matters: the policy covers wholly AI-generated content for now, with TIDAL saying it will extend to "substantially AI-generated" material as detection improves. How that boundary gets drawn — and audited — is the open question for every artist using AI tools in part of their process.
